To find this out, you can do an adhesion tape test over the area which you intend to coat with the child guard. You can do this test for other different areas and then apply a pressure tape to find out the effect of the child guard on these areas.
Clean your existing paint system completely, make it dry and dull and only then apply the child guard. You can easily use a roller or a brush to apply the child guard. Usually, you can do away with two applications of the child guard for a perfect lead encapsulation. One thing that you should make sure before applying child guard is that the temperature of the atmosphere and the surface temperature should be 45°F and should not be freezing.
